A structured adoption process that protects the kitten — and the home. No chaos.
This is a match-first program. We don’t run “first deposit wins.” We run a controlled pipeline so the right Birman lands in the right household with clear expectations and a clean first week.
- Start at the hub: orientation + what’s current at San Diego Birman Kittens.
- Join the waitlist: creates a real pipeline at Birman Waitlist.
- Complete the application: household, rhythm, pets, expectations at Kitten Application.
- Match + confirmation: temperament + fit > speed.
- Logistics planning: pickup/travel at Shipping & Pickup.
- Go-home day: transition plan + a predictable first week.
“Fit” is not a vibe. It’s practical. It’s how we avoid failed placements.
- Temperament: confident vs cautious, social vs independent.
- House rhythm: work schedule, travel, noise level, consistency.
- Pet dynamics: resident animals, intros, territory management.
- Expectations: lap-cat vs sidekick, grooming tolerance, boundaries.
Controlled environment = safety, health, longevity, and stable behavior.
We do not place kittens into homes that declaw. Full stop.
Clear communication and realistic timelines keep the process smooth.
Ready to move forward?
Start with the waitlist. When timing aligns, complete the application and we’ll move into match + confirmation.
The process starts with an inquiry through our contact form or by phone. We will have a conversation about your home and lifestyle, then invite you to complete a formal application. Once approved you will be added to our active waitlist.
Wait times vary depending on your color and gender preferences and litter timing. Most families wait between 3 and 9 months. We keep all waitlist families updated regularly on planned pairings and confirmed pregnancies.
All CWPX Birman kittens go home at 12 weeks of age minimum. This ensures proper socialization, immune development, and litter box reliability before placement.
Yes. All pet-quality placements require a spay or neuter agreement. Show and breeding placements are handled on a case-by-case basis with additional requirements.
We prefer local placements in San Diego and Southern California, but we do ship nationally for the right families. All shipping arrangements are discussed during the approval process.
Every kitten leaves with first vaccinations, a health certificate, microchip registration, a go-home kit with food and scent items, written care documentation, and lifetime breeder support.
